Worked more on the Serenity! It's looking pretty good, needs a few more details. I added the main cockpit and the two shuttles. It's difficult to do this one, for sure. Lots of curves and lots of details. I think I'll render the Galileo shuttle from Star Trek TOS.

I added a couple of details to the train - changed the door's material, added red strips on the sides, and some interior lights. The pictures are a lot darker than the renders, for some reason.

I made a train!

Shotgun!




I finished that shotgun! I learned a lot of stuff about rendering with Arnold and texturing. It turns out Arnold runs best with textures specifically designed for it. When using those, it looks really shiny and cool. Also learned a bit about using the Hypershade window, finally figured out how to make the render window live-update (you have to go to Render -> Run IPR in the render window), and also learned some of the basics of UVs and placing textures on polygons (that's how I got the wood texture. You can get a lot of really cool detail with that tool, it's awesome!

Finished the Falcata! The render looks weird because some of the curves don't look right when it renders, for some reason, so I don't have a picture. Had to redo the blade portion, but now it looks nice! At least, it does outside of the render.

Started making a Falcata today (an ancient, somewhat curved sword of middle eastern make). I tested out making a quick version of the model using the Insert Edge Loop tool, as well as cutting the shape out of a rectangular shape.

King Theoden's Sword, Herugrim!



I FINALLY finished it! Took a lot of effort to get all the details. Booleans didn't work out so I used the multi-cut tool to get all the details. Next time I try to do this, I'm going to do it on a flat surface and then bend the surface, so that I don't have so much difficulty with artifacts and weird glitches like vertices spawning infinite extra faces for some reason.
Continued working on Theoden's Sword! I tried using Booleans to etch a design in the hilt of the blade, but as it turns out, Maya's Booleans tool stops working if the object is too complicated. Wish I'd known that before. I'll figure out how better to deal with it tomorrow.

Cinquedea Render!





Rendered a Cinquedea! It's a weird little civilian "short sword" (Assassin's Creed 2 has it permanently a dagger in my mind). Tested out my knowledge of mirroring and using Boolean tools to cut neat details into a model!

It's a little weird head, and it's not quite done yet, but it's come a ways and I'm generally quite proud of it! Here's what it looks like right now!

Doing things is hard sometimes. But I did make a new design for a shirt today! It's called "John Tyler is Very Tall". Tomorrow will largely be taken up by work, I think, which is good.

Gladius Render



I decided to keep on rendering swords! It's a nice, fun practice for modelling! I learned how to use the extrude tool today, as well as how to fill gaps in an object.
